<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>Road centerlines are captured from the aerial photography as the apparent centerline. Attributes originally compiled via a conflation process from the original street centerline data to the new centerline coverage captured from the aerial photography. Subsequently an extensive QC process followed to correct errors in the conflation process. These areas were identified by staff in phase one of the QC process.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
This vew specifcally shows only the State and Federal Highways in Sonoma County.
The purpose of the capture of street centerlines from the orthophotography was to improve the accuracy and completeness of the County of Sonoma's existing street centerline data. This included the spatial and attribute components of the street centerline data. The street centerlines are maintained to provide current address information for the Sonoma County Law Enforcement Consortium's CAD/911 Dispatch System. The data contain street address attributes such as, street name, street type, address ranges, and community code. Attributes are maintained with updates from the Permits & Resource Management Department and from notifications provided by the various cities. Attribute updates are a work in progress and the County does not guarantee 100% accuracy of all street attributes.

Accuracy depends on the source of the street centerline data. Consult the SPAT_ACCY field. Segments attributed as "MERRICK" are centerlines captured directly form the orthophotos by Merrick & Co. using the contract standards. Other SPAT_ACCY citations necessary due to canopy cover, new development or local knowledge have required additional street centerline data to be added to the street centerline dataset. Collection methods and equipment vary from GPS to local knowledge for street capture, accuracy from these sources varies greatly and is difficult to quantify. Consult the SPAT_ACCY for data source information.

By contract, the orthophotos meet National Map Accuracy Standards for the specified scales and resolutions. Since the street centerlines (those included in the original delivery) were captured from that orthophotography the Accuracy report applies to the street centerlines as well. What that means is that for scales larger than 1:20,000, no more than 10 percent of the points tested should be in error by more than 1/30 inch measured on the publication scale. Using that metric, One would measure the error associated with the publication scale would be as follows: Area Map Scale Photo Scale Pixel Resolution NMAS Standard County Significant 1"=200' 1"=1,200' 1.0' 200/30 = 6.67 ft County Lesser 1"=400' 1"=2,400' 2.0' 400/30 = 13.33 ft Cotati 1"=100' 1"=600' 0.5' 100/30 = 3.33 ft Petaluma 1"=100' 1"=600' 0.25' 100/30 = 3.33 ft Rohnert Park 1"=100' 1"=600' 0.25' 00/30 = 3.33 ft However, Merrick made a concerted effort to exceed NMAS standard and publish to ASPRS standard which is more rigorous for photogrammetric products, so It is known that they easily exceeded these numbers. For example, to generate 2 foot contours in Cotati and Petaluma (which they did), they would need to exceed NMAS for that scale.
