Service Description:

This GIS layer delineates the six Sonoma County Sheriff's Office patrol zone boundaries, as well as the boundaries for two incorporated cities, Windsor and Sonoma, to which the Sheriff provides service. The zone boundaries were dissolved (aggregated) from emergency service zones developed by agency emergency dispatch personnel, and are maintained by GIS personnel for use in the County's GIS database and the CAD/911 dispatch system.

Zone descriptions are as follows below.

Zone 1. River Zone. This zone is staffed from the Guerneville substation and covers the Sonoma Coast and unincorporated areas surrounding Guerneville. In addition to the deputies from the Guerneville substation, there are three resident deputies who patrol the coastal areas.

Zone 2. North Zone. This zone is staffed from the main office and includes the unincorporated areas surrounding Healdsburg, Cloverdale, and Windsor.

Zone 3. Local Zone. This zone is staffed from the main office and includes the unincorporated areas to the north of the city of Santa Rosa.

Zone 4. West Zone. This zone includes the unincorporated areas surrounding Sebastopol. This area is staffed from the main office.

Zone 5. South Zone. This zone is staffed from the main office and includes the unincorporated areas surrounding Petaluma, Rohnert Park, and Cotati.

Zone 6. Valley Zone. This zone is staffed from the Sonoma Valley substation.

Two other areas, the Town of Windsor (WI) and the City of Sonoma (SO), while not identified specifically as agency zones, are included to illustrate areas wherein the Sheriff's Office provides public safety support to those communities.

These boundaries are periodically reviewed to ensure they correspond with current emergency service zones (ESZs) created by the Sheriff's Office and other members of the Sonoma County Public Safety Consortium, as well as changes to the incorporated city boundaries approved by the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) and the State of California.
